Ian Harper began decorative commissions while studying fine art at London’s Slade School.

He has since worked in Europe, Russia and North America. He has taught trompe l’oeil and undertaken restoration projects for English Heritage and others .

He has worked closely with designers, architects and individual clients producing an extraordinarily varied output of finishes, embracing a wide spectrum of techniques, from fresco to gilding, wood graining to Venetian plaster.

His works can be found in Lord Rothschild’s home on Corfu, Raymond Blanc’s Oxfordshire hotel and Ten Downing Street.

He lives in London and has a studio in Corbières, France.
